Mission Foods, maker of the Mission® brand of tortillas and wraps, has expanded its Better for You range with four new tortilla-style chip varieties focused on protein, fiber and grain-free ingredients. The new lineup includes Mission® Protein Tortilla Style Chips in Chile Limón and Jalapeño flavours, along with Mission® Grain Free Tortilla Style Chips in Sea Salt and Hint of Lime flavours.
The Mission® Protein Tortilla Style Chips provide 10 grams of plant-based protein per serving and are described as a good source of protein. The chips are also gluten-free and vegan, offering consumers a protein-focused snack option while retaining the bold flavour and crunch associated with tortilla-style chips.
The Mission® Grain Free Tortilla Style Chips are made with 100% cassava flour, whole chia seeds and avocado oil. Available in Sea Salt and Hint of Lime varieties, the chips are a good source of fiber and are made with non-GMO ingredients. Mission Foods said the products are designed for dipping, sharing or eating directly from the bag, while catering to consumers seeking simpler ingredient profiles and grain-free snack options.
“Our Better for You line has always been about giving people trend-setting options that fit their lifestyle and taste great,” said Sathish Mohanraju, VP of Sales and Marketing for Mission Foods. “Whether folks are looking for simpler ingredients or a new favorite everyday snack – these new chips are for them.”
Mohanraju added that consumer interest in protein and fiber has influenced the development of the new products. “We’re always listening to our customers. Protein and fiber are two things people are trying to get more of, and snacks are a great place to do it. Our Protein chips offer 10 grams of plant-based protein per serving, and our Grain Free chips are a good source of fiber, so people can enjoy a snack that works for them,” he said.
Mission® Protein Tortilla Style Chips and Mission® Grain Free Tortilla Style Chips are now available nationwide at Kroger and its affiliates, with additional retailers expected to roll out the products through the fall. The new varieties are available in the snack aisle.
