Meghalaya’s premium pineapples, celebrated for their high Brix content, exceptional sweetness, and rich aroma, are now available to consumers in Bengaluru via Swiggy Instamart, prominently showcased and branded as “Pineapple (From Meghalaya)“.
Sourced directly from the Jirang Organic Farmer Producer Company, this air-freighted produce represents a significant step in strengthening Meghalaya’s agricultural brand identity. By establishing a robust, direct-to-consumer pipeline, the initiative creates sustainable market linkages that ensure farmers receive much better returns for their labor. The rapid transit guarantees that the fruit retains its premium taste and freshness upon reaching consumers in Bengaluru, perfectly aligning with the State’s broader vision of driving inclusive economic growth through farmer empowerment.
This landmark commercial milestone reflects the proactive vision of Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, whose leadership has consistently prioritized converting the State’s vast natural resources into tangible economic opportunities for local communities. Under this visionary policy framework, Meghalaya is systematically bridging the gap between farmers and national urban markets, elevating native agricultural produce into high-value commercial brands.
This milestone in Bengaluru builds seamlessly upon the overwhelming success of the 4th Meghalaya Pineapple Festival at Dilli Haat, New Delhi, which recently concluded with a historic sale of 30 Metric Tonnes of fresh pineapples in just three days. To further accelerate this integrated value-chain transformation, the Government of Meghalaya has also signed strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Flipkart and NCDEX e Markets Limited (NeML). These pivotal partnerships are designed to secure long-term digital and institutional market access for the State’s niche agricultural products, reinforcing the government’s commitment to building a globally competitive, farmer-led agricultural ecosystem.
